Eight people, including Bhojpuri actress Anchal Tiwari and musician Chhotu Pandey, died in a head-on collision between an SUV and a motorcycle in Bihar’s Kaimur district, police said. A Bhojpuri actress named Simran Srivastava also died in the accident.

Among them, Boxer-born Bhojpuri singer Chhotu Pandey, his nephew Anu Pandey, lyricist Satya Prakash Mishra Bairagi, Varanasi-born actress Simran Srivastava and Anchal Tiwari are well-known faces of the Bhojpuri industry.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said the accident occurred when a car carrying eight people, including two women, first hit the motorcycle. Both the SUV and the bicycle then moved into the other lane, where a fast-moving truck collided with them.

Nine people, including the motorcyclist, died on site. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also expressed sadness over the incident.
