New Zealand manager Gary Stead said of the indoor arena, “the game has to be played in the sun.”

The Indian team on the New Zealand tour has faced rain for most of the matches. The second ODI match played on 27 November also came in the rain and was cancelled. Earlier in the T20 series too, the rain had created difficulties. Following the cancellation of the second match, New Zealand manager Gary Stead reacted to the indoor arena. He said that this game should be played in sunlight as much as possible.

Speaking about the indoor arena after the match, Gary Stead said: “It’s very difficult for us to have this happen here in New Zealand. We have no reason for this. I think if there is a way then it should be considered.

Speaking further, he said, “I think this is something everyone would definitely like to try. Cricket is an outdoor game and should be played in the sun as much as possible.

Rain also created hurdles in the T20 series which was played before the ODI series. The first match was abandoned without the ball being thrown. Following this, he too was rained out in the third match, after which the decision was made due to the Duckworth-Lewis rule. However, by winning the second match, the Indian team won the T20 series.

It is worth noting that earlier in the T20 World Cup held in Australia, rain had also emerged as an issue. A total of four World Cup matches were canceled due to rain. At the same time, three matches were decided by the Duckworth-Lewis rule. Now it remains to be seen if the ICC or any other board thinks of covered or terraced stadiums or not.
