New formula to calculate your dog’s age
The AAMV has updated the method for determining the age of dogs taking into account the following characteristics:
The first year of a dog’s life is 15 human years.
The second corresponds to our next 9 years.
From the third year onwards, 5 years are added every year.

Watch for physical signs: Dental changes can indicate your dog’s age, from the appearance of baby teeth to the wear of permanent teeth.
Temporary teeth emerge between 15 and 21 days, become permanent teeth after 6 months and begin to wear down after 3 years.
Life expectancy varies depending on breed: Smaller breeds can live longer, some can even live up to 18 years, unlike large breeds like German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers, which can live around 12 years.

Other existing formulas depending on the breed
The University of California developed another mathematical formula that takes into account the size and weight of the dog and therefore divided the animals into four groups:
–Small breeds: These are all less than 10 kilos
–medium breeds: They are those that weigh between 10 and 22 kilos
–large breeds: those who weigh between 23 and 40 kilos
–Giant breeds: People over 41 kilos

Human years = 16 x In (dog’s chronological age) + 31. That means you need to multiply the logarithm of the dog’s age in years by 16 and then add 31.
