The file stream with the new James Bond movie No Time To Die contains malware that infects devices and accesses confidential user data.
The alert is given by the cybersecurity company Kaspersky, which analyzed several of these files.
Kaspersky warns that malware includes especially dangerous Trojans
James Bond has a legion of fans who are always eager to see the new films in the series and, for that reason, the first images and stream files that promise to reveal everything quickly appear on the Internet.
The new movie No Time To Die is no exception and was apparently available in streaming on some websites. Kaspersky searched for these files and sent them for a security scan. Result: these are malware files that contain particularly dangerous Trojans.
Malware designed to collect confidential user data (entered at their login) and to create back doors in computers. The research team also found adware and ransomware, hidden in the film’s stream.
Phishing Sites Without No Time To Die Stream Files
The cybersecurity company went even further and discovered that several phishing sites include stream files of the new James Bond title. In this specific case, after watching the first few minutes of the movie, users are prompted to register and credit card information to continue watching the movie.
Kaspersky found that even when registering, users could not see the rest of the movie. But the worst consequence is that these sites are left with crucial information from the user’s credit card that they can use in future scams.
For this reason, the company draws attention to file endings. Namely: a video file should never have an .msi or .exe extension.
