The company Energía Natural Dominicana (ENADOM) completed the interconnection from the Gasoducto del Este to the SIBA Energy generating plant, located in Boca Chica, to supply Natural Gas to its operations.
ENADOM’s supply of natural gas is part of the strategy to take advantage of the storage and distribution infrastructure of this fuel in the eastern zone, guaranteeing efficiency and security for the entire country with the capacity to supply more than 1,000 megawatts of new generation in a immediately, which represents the most reliable and resilient supply proposal.
Edwin De Los Santos, CEO of ENADOM, highlighted that the necessary strategic investments have been made, in excess of US$400 million, to support the growth of the new demand for electricity generation in a more efficient way, at lower cost and time”.
As fuel suppliers, the company supplies three large generators located in the San Pedro de Macorís area, supplying more than 730 megawatts of electricity generation, through contracts that translate into savings of one million tons of CO2.
SIBA Energy is one of the generators awarded the tender called by the Dominican Government to increase the installed capacity in an emergency, held in the year 2022. This Natural Gas generation plant will be added to the set of units of the system that based on this fuel offer greater flexibility to the energy matrix of the Dominican Republic
