Keibert Ruiz had three hits, including a go-ahead double in the 10th, and the Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins 5-4 on Wednesday.

Fellow Venezuelan Cesar Hernandez tripled and doubled, Maikel Franco had two singles and compatriot Juan Soto walked three for the Nationals, who avoided their second sweep in a three-game series against the Marlins this season.

Ruiz hit a drive down the third-base line off reliever Daniel Castano (0-1) to send automatic runner Dee Strange-Gordon home from third base.

Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s sacrifice fly off Washington reliever Tanner Rainey (1-1) with the bases loaded in the ninth inning tied the score at 4-4. The Nationals were unsuccessful in appealing that Jesus Sanchez had left third base before Soto caught Chisholm’s drive in right field.

Mexican Victor Arano retired the 10th inning for his first save.

For the Nationals, the Venezuelans Keibert Ruiz 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored; César Hernández 5-2 with an RBI and a run scored; Alcides Escobar 4-1 with one produced and one scored. The Dominicans Maikel Franco 5-2; Juan Soto 2-0; Nelson Cruz 4-0; Víctor Robles without an official shift and one scored. Cuban Yadiel Hernández 4-1.

For the Marlins, the Dominicans Jesús Sánchez 4-2 with a run scored; Erik Gonzalez 3-1. Venezuelans Miguel Rojas 3-1 with a run scored; Jesús Aguilar 4-0 with one produced; Avisail Garcia 5-0.
