Policía Nacional inicia campamento deportivo barrios Simón Bolívar y 24 de Abril

The National Police began this Wednesday the “Simón Bolívar and April 24 Children’s Sports Camp” with the coordination of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and club leaders from the vulnerable sectors of the Capital.

“Major General Eduardo Alberto Then instructed us to increase sports activities with children and adolescents, and here we are hand in hand with the Church and the clubs,” said Colonel Jacobo Mateo Moquete, sports commander of the institution of order.

He added that the activity has the support of the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, the Basketball Federation and Mr. Cristóbal Marte, president of the North American, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA).

The priest Modesto Arias, parish priest of the Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro Parish, thanked Major General Alberto Then for approaching the neighborhoods through sports, which he defined as an excellent way to improve the image of the institution before the population. One hundred children and adolescents who play basketball, women’s volleyball and chess were chosen by neighborhood sports leaders to participate for three days in the facilities of the Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro Parish and the Nuestra Señora del Carmen polytechnic.

The minors belong to the Libertador Simón Bolívar, Unión Deportiva Simón Bolívar, Marcelino De la Rosa and 24 de Abril clubs, which are led by Carmelo Guzmán, Amaury Germán (Jabao), Jean De la Rosa and Oscar Reyes respectively.
