The Spanish Rafael Nadal, the top winner of Grand Slam tournaments, will play tennis again in Buenos Aires: this Friday it was confirmed that the former world number one will star in an exhibition against the Norwegian Casper Ruud on Wednesday, November 23, a match scheduled for the Mary Terán de Weiss Stadium in Parque Roca, in the City of Buenos Aires.

As part of his Latin American tour, which will include stops in Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico, Nadal will arrive in the country for the fifth time and will be playing an exhibition against Ruud, his rival in the last Roland Garros final last June. “I want revenge,” the Norwegian tells the Spaniard in the promotional video they recorded and in Spanish he answers that he will pay him a barbecue if he loses in Buenos Aires.

Nadal, who will be two of the world as of Monday, visited the country on several occasions, since he participated in the 2005, 2015 and 2016 editions of the ATP in Buenos Aires, in addition to participating in 2013 in a double farewell to David Nalbandian : one in the Rural and the other in the Orfeo de Córdoba stadium.

His rival, Casper Ruud, a recent US Open finalist, has been one of the revelations on the circuit in recent times, as he was just one match away from becoming number one in the world ranking. This Friday the Norwegian had an unexpected defeat in Seoul that will allow Nadal to access the number 2 position in the world ranking behind Carlos Alcaraz and, in this way, an unprecedented event will take place: the first time that two Spanish players lead the ranking.

The two athletes are former champions of the ATP of Buenos Aires. Nadal did it in 2015, while Ruud did it twice, in 2020 and 2022.
