The first edition of the Murcia Non Stop Madrid-Murcia is born, organized by RPM Sports, which will be held from November 12 to 14, 2021. In this way, Murcia makes a clear commitment to cycling by hosting this new Mountain Bike event by teams in an uninterrupted format that will connect Rivas-Vaciamadrid with the capital of the Murcia region.
This challenge for the brave, consisting of 650km, will allow you to live the experience of crossing Spain from the center to the southeast, without mandatory stops and with a limit of 45 hours. Participants will be able to enjoy the most characteristic places of La Mancha and enter the mountainous terrain of the Region of Murcia, ending on the Mediterranean coast. In this way, the Murcian city takes the opportunity to show its outstanding tourist offer, among which is the El Valle and Carrascoy Regional Park.
The first edition of the test will feature big names in sports such as: Rocio del Alba García (current Spanish XCO champion), David Valero and Carlos Coloma (Olympic medalists) Pablo Rodríguez (world cup runner), Luis León Sánchez, Murcian and professional runner champion of Spain en route in 2020, among others.
Also, different personalities from recognized associations will take the start in this challenge together., thus giving visibility to the different diseases such as: Damián Aragón -Walking with Aitana-, Daniel Guerrero -cris patron against cancer- and Alfredo García -The motor of your steps-.
The test presents a route without major technical steps and with a favorable positive slope. The only difficulties are concentrated in the Alarcón reservoir area (Basin). Once overcome, the cyclists will pedal along large tracks parallel to the Júcar river that will take them to the Murcian autonomous community. There they will enter through Yecla, following the Vera Cruz road to Caravaca. From this point, a very fast track will take the participants to the finish line, located in the city of Murcia.
This test has a linear ‘non stop’ format; that is to say, without obligatory stops. On their way, the participants will find the Hydration Stations and where they can take over from other members of their team. Therefore, the strategy is key for the development of the test, since none of the stops or relay is mandatory. In the assigned positions the participants will find a space where they can spend the night, counting on their assistance vehicles. The course of the test will not be arrowed, but it will be mandatory and must be followed by GPS.
The test is open to participants can participate in teams of a maximum of 4 people or individually. The Murcia Non Stop Madrid- Murcia is aimed at all kinds of MTB fans with great adventurous spirit and who are looking for a new way to enjoy this sport through a major challenge.
This new adventure has the organization of RPM Sports, an organizing company also of other outstanding events on the calendar such as the Titan Desert, the Zurich Marató de Barcelona, the Škoda Titan Series Almería, L’Étape Spain by Tour de France presented by Lapierre, the San Sebastián Marathon or the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona.
