Mumbai Police Opposes Saif Ali Khan Attack Accused's Bail Plea

A dramatic turn in the case of the attack on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan. Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, the man accused of wielding a knife, has asked for bail. But Mumbai police are strongly opposing it.

The police claim Shahzad is a Bangladeshi citizen living in India without proper papers. If he’s let out on bail, he might flee to Bangladesh and meddle with the investigation. There’s a risk he could commit serious crimes again.

Police Present Their Case

The police say the crime is very serious and they have solid evidence against Shahzad. They’re urging the court to reject his bail plea to prevent him from committing more crimes and to ensure a fair investigation.

The next hearing is set for April 9, when the court will make a final decision on the bail plea. Shahzad filed for bail on March 29, claiming he’s innocent and the case against him is fake.

The Attack on Saif Ali Khan

The attack happened on January 16 at Saif’s home in Bandra. Shahzad allegedly entered through his youngest son Jeh’s room and attacked him. Saif suffered multiple injuries but still managed to take himself and his son Taimur to the hospital.

The Case So Far

The case is currently in the Bandra Magistrate Court, which falls under the Mumbai Session Court. Once the police file the charge sheet, the case will be transferred to the Session Court. However, the charge sheet hasn’t been filed yet. According to media reports, doctors removed a 2.5-inch broken knife piece from Saif’s wound. He had six stab wounds, two of which were serious and near his spine.
