The Moroccan Armed Forces are waiting to receive 200 “Cobra 2” armored personnel carriers from the Turkish defense company “Otokar”. The “Cobra” was originally developed for the Turkish army in 1997. It can be used as an armored personnel carrier, anti-tank vehicle, reconnaissance platform, ground observation unit, forward observation point and even an armored ambulance.
The steel body protects against mines, improvised explosive devices, artillery fragments and large-caliber firearms. Can be equipped with a variety of weapons, including machine guns 12.7mm cannons, 20mm cannons and anti-tank missiles.
Additional shielding can be added. Crew protection is enhanced through the use of seats with folding bases, four-point seat belts, etc. It can also be used as an amphibious vehicle. It is powered by a V8 turbodiesel engine that produces 190 hp. Its weight-performance ratio is over 30 hp/t. The vehicle has four-wheel drive with an electronically controlled automatic transmission and a lockable two-speed transfer case for greater mobility. This vehicle is equipped with independent suspension and a central tire inflation system.
