Monumental crack of Fernando Alonso on the Miami GP

The Asturian confessed that some decisions have seemed very unfair

It has not been a good time for Fernando Alonsowho this past Friday referred to the commissioners sports of the Miami GP two weeks ago, whom he considers “incompetent” for having sanctioned him with the loss of two positions, and consequently, of the two points he had achieved there.

And it is that in the press conference of the FIAThis Friday, Alonso was asked about the sanction that made him lose 2 points from 9th place. “it was unfair. I think it was very unfair. It was just incompetence of the stewards, who I think were not very professional in Miami”, said the Asturian.

Alonso has criticized the stewards of the Miami GP

The Miami stewards did not forgive Fernando Alonso for anything

His argument was that the stewards ignored the evidence provided by the Alpine team to justify that he had not benefited from the manoeuvre. Thus Alonso had skipped turn 14, but the team was not allowed to show that he had slowed down to return the advantage achieved.

“I did not make a curve, then I returned the time on that lap… but obviously as soon as I skipped that curve, a mini sector appeared in purple, and although I later returned it, they made the decision without asking us for any proof”, complained Fernando Alonso in front of the press conference for all fans.

The points that have been deducted and the positions were also affected

The Asturian explained: “We arrived after the race with all the tests and all the data, and they were already packing things to leave. They weren’t even in the commissaires’ room. They told us: “give us five minutes”. But they already found their hands tied, probably because they already issued the sanction.”

In the Miami race, Alonso received two penalties. The first, due to a touch with Pierre Gasly, which cost him the loss of a position. And the second, from 9th to 11th, applied hours after the race, for “going off the track and achieving a lasting advantage” by skipping turn 14.

From the Enstone-based team they value a transfer of one of their pilots

Laurent Rossi, CEO of the French team has determined: “It is a bit early in the season for us to be able to position any driver anywhere in our team.” Which leaves in question that they will not be in any hurry for or against any of their troops.

Of course, from Alpine they know that in case everything gets complicated, they have an escape route in favor of Fernando Alonso and the interests of the team. They value a transfer of Lucas Piastri to another of the teams on the grid, since at the moment they consider that their number 1 driver is the two-time Formula 1 champion. If his level goes down, they would consider the return of the oceanic.
