Mohammad Siraj Shines Against RCB, Reflects on Emotional Match

Mohammad Siraj’s nerves of steel were on full display as he took on his former team, Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Gujarat Titans pacer walked away with the Player of the Match award after a stellar performance.

Siraj’s 4-over spell was a masterclass – he conceded just 19 runs at an economy rate of 4.75 and picked up 3 crucial wickets. He got the big wickets of Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt, bowling them both. Later, he also got Liam Livingstone out.

But what made this performance even more special was the emotions involved. Siraj had played for RCB for 7 years, and this was his first match against them. He admitted to feeling emotional and a bit nervous before the game. However, as soon as he got the ball in his hand, he settled into his groove.

Turning Point

Siraj revealed that a chat with Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra helped him get back on track after a rough patch. Nehra’s advice was simple – enjoy the game and do what you do best. Siraj also credited his fellow bowlers, including Rabada and Ishant, for their feedback and support.

The Gujarat Titans’ bowling unit was on fire, with Saai Kishore also picking up 2 wickets for 22 runs. Arshad Khan, Prasidh Krishna, and Ishant Sharma chipped in with a wicket each.

When it was their turn to bat, the Titans chased down the target with ease, thanks to Jos Buttler’s explosive 73 off 39 balls, which included 6 sixes and 5 fours. Saai Kishore also played a crucial knock, scoring 49 off 36 balls.

As the Indian Premier League tweeted, the Gujarat Titans left Bengaluru with 2 points after a comprehensive 8-wicket victory.
