Kolkata Knight Riders crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs. This marks Kolkata’s second win in the 2025 IPL. At Eden Gardens, Kolkata set the tone with 200 runs, while SRH managed only 120 in response. Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their third straight loss. Venkatesh Iyer and Vaibhav Arora were the driving force behind Kolkata’s victory.
SRH faced a daunting target of 201 runs. Their top order stumbled, with Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan dismissed at just 9 runs. At one point, reaching 100 seemed unlikely for SRH, but Heinrich Klaasen’s 33 runs and Kamindu Mendis’ 27 runs helped the team scrape past 100. Ultimately, SRH’s entire team could only muster 120 runs.
Kolkata’s win was built on the foundation laid by Ankush Raghuvanshi, who scored 50 runs in 32 balls and formed an 81-run partnership with captain Ajinkya Rahane. Then, Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh took over. Iyer’s explosive 60 runs in 29 balls, along with Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 32 runs in 17 balls, propelled KKR to 200.
SRH’s Worst IPL Defeat
This loss marks one of the worst defeats for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Kolkata’s dominating performance has given them momentum, while SRH struggles to find their footing. With this win, KKR solidifies their position, leaving SRH to regroup and reassess their strategy.
