Famous world-class fighters, including a Russian Olympic medalist, will be part of the attractive ten-fight professional card, which the mixed martial arts (MMA) promoter Fighting Force will be presenting on April 14 at the Center’s Fencing Pavilion. Olympic Juan Pablo Duarte.
The event has the support of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) and its owner, Francisco Camacho.
The card, which includes several disputes for world titles between high-calibre fighters and a women’s match, will be televised nationally and internationally by UFC Fight Pass, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) television medium, as reported by Rodolfo Dauhajre on Monday, President of the MMA Fighting Force.
Dauhajre highlighted, at a press conference held in the James Rodríguez room in Miderec, that the billboard is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m., and that the tickets are on sale at Uepa Tickets with a cost of 800 and 1,500 pesos.
"We expect a large public attendance, as well as a tremendous audience, which has been customary at every Fighting Force event, due to the high caliber of the participating athletes, who we are sure will put on a great show."added the businessman.
During the meeting with the press, the Vice Ministers of Sports, Franklin De la Mota and Kennedy Vargas; as well as Domingo Dauhajre, deputy director of the MMA Fighting Force; Fernando Dauhajre, national commissioner of Mixed Martial Arts; together with the fighters Jhonasky ‘La Máquina’ Sojo, Tommy ‘La Salsa’ García and Carlos ‘El Matador’ Matos.
Vice Ministers Vargas and De la Mota highlighted the growth and progress that mixed martial arts have been achieving in the country and assured that the Government of President Luis Abinader, through Miderec, will continue to support and promote this sporting activity until it becomes the Republic Dominican in a referent in Latin America and the world.
"We are pleasantly surprised with the great acceptance and level that mixed martial arts have been exhibiting in our country, to the extent that world-famous fighters come to celebrate their fights on Dominican soil, which shows that we have become a great venue for this sport"De la Mota highlighted.
Among the stellar fights that the billboard will present is the fight between Carlos-‘El Matador’-Matos and the Brazilian Bruno Santos (Carioca) at 185 pounds.
Also the brawl between ‘The Machine’ Sojo, who will face Will Brooks at 155 pounds. Sojo is the current Fighting Force 155lb Lightweight Champion, with a record of 13 wins and 3 losses.
Another interesting fight will be the one between ‘La Salsa’ García and Sebastián Cardona (El Águila), at 135 pounds; as well as the fight, which in the women’s division, will be fought by Natasha Kuziútina and Karen Quintero, over three rounds at 115 pounds.
Kuziútina is a judoka, multiple champion and bronze medalist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, one of the few people worldwide who have trained with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The evening also includes the heavyweight fight between former NFL player Anthony Wint (professional rookie) against Luis García (The Beast).
