Microsoft explains how to run Windows 11 on a Mac with an Apple Silicon chip

Microsoft published documentation on running Windows 11 on a Mac with an Apple Silicon chip, such as the mighty M1 or M2.

The methods for doing this haven’t changed, as Parallels Desktop is still being usedbut it is now a Microsoft supported solution.

Parallels works through virtualization, so Windows 11 doesn’t run directly on Mac hardware like Boot Camp does on Intel-based Macs. This option is not yet available on newer Macs, as adding Boot Camp would require Apple’s cooperation.

The other option is Windows 365, also known as Cloud PC, but it is a remote desktop hosted in the cloud. It is subscription-based and geared toward businesses.

Finally, Microsoft has documented how to run Windows 11 on an Apple Silicon Mac. So far, the company has not spoken about running Windows on Arm on anything other than a Snapdragon processor. Running Windows 11 on Apple Silicon was not officially supported, although Parallels has been around since the beginning.
