Mexico: a magnitude 6.9 earthquake kills two in the capital

The earth shook again in western Mexico, on the night of Wednesday 21 to Thursday September 22, three days after a first earthquake that killed two people. The 6.9 magnitude aftershock, recorded shortly after 1 a.m., caused two new deaths in the capital.

In Mexico, the anti-seismic alert woke up the inhabitants or emptied the last restaurants still open. Many rushed to the streets in pajamas, hearing the alarm. A woman died by falling “on the stairs at home” after the activation of the anti-seismic alert, reported the mayor, quoting the services of the citizen security on Twitter. A man died of a heart attack.

The epicenter was located in the state of Michoacan, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Twitter. Four western states were affected, in addition to the capital: Michoacan, Colima, Jalisco and Guerrero. “For the moment, we do not report any damage”said the Head of State.
