The Santiago Metros announced the return of Ramon Galloway and the hiring of Orlando Johnson, both will debut when the team faces the Leones de Santo Domingo in the resumption of the Dominican Republic National Basketball League (LNBRD).
The representatives of the heart city have a 4-5 record, sharing the third position in the competition with Reales de La Vega and Indios de San Francisco de Macorís after 9 games played in the regular phase.
Galloway, 31, can perform at positions 1-2 with a great shot from mid to long range. With his speed he tends to easily get to the basket. He has experience in the league, he was in the 2021 season where he averaged 14.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He shot 45% from the field and three in six games.
He was selected MVP of the All-Star Game, where he scored 29 points with Team Juanco. He suffered a left knee injury that forced him to drop out.
He averaged 26.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in 11 games with the Taiwan Beer Herobears of the Taiwan T1 League.
Johnson, 33, is a shooting guard with NBA experience. He was selected in the second round (36th) by the Sacramento Kings in 2012 and immediately traded to the Indiana Pacers. He has played development league several times, also in Spain, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, among others.
He comes from participating in the Philippine Professional Basketball League, where he averaged 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists in 41.7 minutes per game with the San Miguel Beermen.
“We need a reaction, the absence of Adris de León forces us to strengthen our handling of the ball, we understood that we had to look for an improvement in the team,” said David Díaz, team leader.
The Metros will play their next two games at the Arena del Cibao, tomorrow (Tuesday) they host the Leones de Santo Domingo at 8:00 pm and on Thursday the Soles de Santo Domingo at 5:00 pm
