Lhe fast food giant is facing shortages in several other Asian countries.
“We are facing a significant shortage.” McDonald’s has announced a rationing of french fries in Malaysia due to “supply problems”, according to a statement sent to AFP. Restaurants across the country have had to withdraw large portions of fries from sale. The group promised to “to follow very closely” supply status to put large portions back on sale as soon as possible.
McDonald’s is facing shortages in several other Asian countries. In Taiwan, McDonald’s temporarily suspended the sale of “hash browns” in January because of an insufficient supply of these hash browns imported from the United States.
In Japan, McDonald’s announced in early January that it would reduce its fries portions for a month due to flooding in Canada and disruptions to the global supply chain.
