McCullum bid farewell to KKR to take command of England test team, farewell video surfaced

Brendon McCullum has bid farewell to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to take over as head coach of the England Test team. His former teammate on the New Zealand team, fast bowler Matt Henry, feels the former New Zealand captain will prove to be a great coach. Henry said McCullum would be the perfect manager to get England back on track, where he has only won one of his 17 matches.

Henry, who took over 100 ODI wickets for New Zealand, told Sange’s Morning on Friday: “I loved playing under Brendon’s captaincy.” He added: “There is no doubt that McCullum will do well for England. He will be eager to meet the England team and the people. I am sure everyone will be eager to learn from him.”

McCullum finished his stint with KKR on a stellar level on Wednesday as his team dropped to tournament twelve after losing by just two runs to Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL 2022 match. McCullum helped KKR win two of the first seven matches from last season. At the same time, to win the next five matches in the second leg, they eventually finished the tournament as runners-up.

McCullum said: “It was three years ago when Venky Mysore (KKR Managing Director) gave me the opportunity as a coach and since then it has been a very steep learning curve and I have enjoyed every moment of it. McCullum said, “It’s not easy for coaches to come and go. But I’ll always be associated with KKR. They can reach out to me at any level and I’ll be in touch even when I’m away from their franchise. So best wishes.” wishes to all of you.”
