London: The government of Pakistan has announced to award the Star of Pakistan to the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.
On behalf of the Government of Pakistan, Sadiq Khan of Pakistani origin will be awarded the Star of Pakistan on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day at the Pakistan High Commission in London. According to the announcement of the High Commission, this high honor is being given to Sadiq Khan for his assistance in improving relations with the United Kingdom.
It should be noted that Pakistani-born Sadiq Khan was elected as the Mayor of London for the second time in a row after defeating the Conservative candidate in 2021. He previously served as Mayor of London in 2016 until 2021.
Sadiq Khan’s parents came to Britain from Pakistan in 1968, Sadiq Khan’s father was a bus driver in London.
Sadiq Khan, 50, was a human rights lawyer before joining politics.
