Marvel: Jeremy Renner would see Hawkeye take the lead in the Avengers

No thanks.

After the events ofAvengers: Endgame, who will have seen Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Tony stark (Robert Downey Jr), two original members of Avengers pass from life to death, Steve rogers (Chris Evans) will be he, returned to the past to spend happy days with his beloved Peggy carter. A situation that makes Avengers orphans of their principal leaders.

Everything suggests that Sam wilson (The Falcon) will endorse this new status, he who has often played second knives in the Cap ‘ in all the films where he appeared. His new role obtained thanks to the series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier should enable it to establish clear credibility in the face of new Avengers. But another very old character from MCU is always present : Hawkeye.

The character has experienced a hyper ambiguous trajectory. At first invisible in Avengers, he had a little more development in Avengers: Age of Ultron before being totally left out in Infinity war then he came back in Avengers: Endgame. From now on, he will be entitled to a series Disney + where he will pass the torch (and his bow) to the young Kate bishop, embodied by Hailee Steinfeld. The series will arrive on the streaming platform on November 24, just two short days away.

In an interview with the BBC, Jeremy renner confided not wanting to put away his costume from Hawkeye in the closet, explaining even wanting to take back the leadership of the Avengers:

“Hawkeye was underrated. Yet he was the head of the West Coast Avengers [ndlr : dans la série de comics éponyme]. I really think he could become a leader like Captain America. I am sure he would succeed in taking the lead. He could become a true quarterback, rather than just a receiver. It would be really interesting and I would love to see my character take that kind of direction.“

Maybe the series will tease this fact? We’ll have to look at Hawkeye to find out.
