Martina Navratilova9-time Wimbledon champion, announced Tuesday that throat and breast cancer who had been diagnosed at the end of last year is “in a remission stage” after successful medical treatment.
“From what is known, it could be said that I am clean of cancer”revealed the great champion, 66, in an interview she gave to the famous journalist Piers Morgan in the British media Talk TV.
Navratilova, a tennis legend with 18 Grand Slam titles that raised her to number one in the world, and with a total collection of 167 titles on the WTA circuit, she underwent intense treatment for a cancer that had been diagnosed in 2010 but that came back with force at the end of 2022.
“When the doctors told me, I was in a total panic. for three days thinking that maybe I wouldn’t see next Christmas. A bucket list of all the things I wanted to do if I only had one year to live came to my mind.”he admitted.
The tennis player of Czechoslovakian origin and nationalized American underwent radiation treatment every day for three weeks and with three weekly rounds of chemotherapy.
“It’s definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” the crack ended.
