Marketplaces will become the largest and fastest growing channel globally in the coming years. The data for these forecasts come from the annual report «Future of Marketplaces 2022” of Edge by Ascential. Where they also conclude that e-commerce sales will drop from 44% to 41% in 2027. The report predicts that Alibaba will remain the world leader in sales by 2027, reaching a GMV of 1.5 billion dollars. While Amazon will take second place with $1.2 billion in total GMV net sales in 2027.
