Mario García Romo, ninth in a cross in Austin with victory for Edwin Kurgat

The Spanish Mario García Romo finished this Thursday in the ninth position in the Cross of Austin, an 8 kilometer test that ended with victory for Kenyan Edwin Kurgat.

Bronze medalist this year in the 1,500 meters at the European Championships in Munich, García Romo, from On Athletics Club, achieved a time of 23:55.60 after climbing seven positions on the last lap of this predominantly grass mile course.

The win went to Edwin Kurgatfrom the American Distance Project club, with a record of 23:27.50.

Two On Athletics Club athletes completed the podium: Yared Nuguse he was second with 23:30.60 and Oliver Hoare he occupied the third position with 23:32.70.

In the women’s event, also over 8 kilometers, the winner was the American Alicia Monson (On Athletics Club) with a time of 26:55.70.

Emily Infeld (Nike) and Ednah Kurgat (US Army) ranked second and thirdrespectively, with records of 27:01.70 and 27:07.90.

The Sound Running’s Fitness Bank Cross Champs, which took place this Thursday in Austin (Texas, USA), is the only American test of the world cross-country circuitwho will then return to Spain for the Venta de Baños Cross Country on December 18.

The world circuit serves cross specialists to prepare for the World Championshipswhich will be held on February 23 in Bathurst (Australia)
