Midfielder Iván Marcone fulfilled this Saturday his dream of becoming an Independiente footballer, a club of which he is a self-confessed fan, by signing his contract and training with his new teammates.
The former Arsenal, Lanús and Boca soccer player was happy during the formal act in which he was accompanied by the president, Hugo Moyano, and the manager, Daniel Montenegro. The contract will bind him for two and a half years to the Avellaneda club.
“You are at home, Iván. Marcone signed his contract with Club Atlético Independiente,” the institution reported on its official Twitter account, accompanied by photos in which the player from Elche in Spain is seen smiling.
After making his arrival official, Marcone trained with the rest of the squad, which was joined this Friday by the recovered Tomás Pozzo and Damián Batallini. Both players will be available for the match on the fifth date against Patronato de Paraná as a visitor. “It is a very difficult feeling to explain. I will try to mentalize myself to be one more professional. I came many times to the stands with my dad and now I will have to be inside,” said Marcone when leaving the clinic.
The official presentation of the midfielder will take place on Monday through a press conference at the Villa Domínico venue, although the time has not yet been confirmed. Marcone is the only reinforcement so far, in an Independiente that started the championship with only three points and a coach like Eduardo Domínguez who cried out for new faces to have a greater number of replacements and avoid situations like those experienced with Argentinos, in the that did not complete the bench of substitutes.
Independiente will receive Estudiantes de La Plata on Monday, at 9:30 p.m., for the fourth day of the Professional League.
