Marco Asensio announces his goodbye to Real Madrid

On the eve of Real Madrid’s last game of the season, Marco Asensio made his decision official not accept the renewal proposal of the white club and close a seven-year stage in the white house, to seek “new goals” in a new project outside of Spain.

“Dear Real Madrid fans, I address you with a lump in my throat and a heart full of mixed feelings,” Asensio announced on his social networks after deciding to leave Real Madrid at the age of 27, discarding the two renewal proposals that the club presented to him.

“From a very young age, Real Madrid became my passion, my dream and my most cherished objective. I have had the privilege of making this dream come true during these wonderful years. I want to express my deepest thanks to Real Madridthe president, his board of directors, the coaches and the people who work to make the club such a special institution,” he said.

Asensio left a message for all those who have been teammates and for the Madrid fans. “Together we have experienced moments of glory, fought in every battle and celebrated unforgettable victories,” he said, referring to his teammates.

“But I cannot forget the true raison d’être of Real Madrid, its incredible fans. You are the soul and engine of the club. Your passion, encouragement and conditional love drives us to give everything in every game and live unforgettable nights that I will always take with me”, he added to the fans.

“The time comes when I have to make a difficult decision. I have decided to embark on a new direction in my career in search of a project in which he can reach new goals. Thank you dear Madrid fans for your unconditional support. We will meet again somewhere on this wonderful path of football,” he said.

Real Madrid signed Asensio from Mallorca in 2015 and after a season on loan at Espanyol he joined the Real Madrid first team, where he has scored 61 goals and provided 32 assists in 285 games.

Marco Asensio leaves Real Madrid being the 19th player with the most titles won with Real Madridtied with the legend Alfredo di Stéfano with 17, after winning three Champions Leagues, three Leagues, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, three Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey.

He is the player with the 46th most games played in the history of the white club, with 285, which against Athletic Club will be 286 in one afternoon at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in which he will say goodbye to Real Madrid.
