Tennis Star Marcel Granollers Nears Completing Dream List of Achievements

Barcelona Tennis Champion Two Goals Away from Realizing Dream

Marcel Granollers, a 38-year-old tennis player from Barcelona, is just two achievements away from completing his dream list. Despite failing to win the doubles title at Wimbledon this year, the veteran player remains one step away from realizing his goal.

Granollers, a champion of 26 titles, nine of which he won with his current partner Horacio Zeballos, was eliminated in the semi-finals at the All England Club by Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell in a tightly contested match. This marked his second consecutive defeat in the doubles final at Wimbledon, having previously lost in 2021 and 2023.

Olympic Medal Up for Grabs

Ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, which are scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 4, Granollers is partnering with compatriot Pablo Carreño to win an Olympic medal at Roland Garros.

The 38-year-old has already achieved success in his career, teaming up with Zeballos as a duo at the Montreal Masters 1000 in 2019. Their dream of being the best was realized when they rose to world number one last May, following their semi-final finish at the Mutua Madrid Open.

Granollers and Zeballos are set to regain their spot as world number one on July 15. Despite the disappointment at Wimbledon, they remain focused on their future goals.
