Manny Machado and Padres agree to $350 million, 11-year extension, reports say

The Dominican Manny Machado agreed to an 11-year contract extension for 350 million dollars with the San Diego Padres, according to the report of the journalist of the sports network ESPN, Jeff Passan.

Through his Twitter account, Passan indicated that sources close to him told ESPN that “Machado helped change the Padres franchise, so he will stay while the team seeks its first world series championship.”

The third baseman had expressed in mid-February that he would be opting out to free agency after the end of the 2023 Major League Baseball season.

The 30-year-old slugger signed before the start of the 2019 season a contract with San Diego, where he got the sum of 300 million dollars for 10 years.
