The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has warned this Tuesday that the country’s authorities could once again decree the confinement of the population "if required", although he has remarked that, for the moment, the "flexibilization" of the restrictions "until new notice".

In an official act in which he took stock of the latest infections and the epidemiological situation in the country, the Venezuelan leader has put on the table the possibility of resuming the ‘7 + 7’ methodology, which establishes "seven days of work, plus seven days of rigorous and disciplined quarantine", as explained by the vice president of the country, Delcy Rodríguez, at the beginning of June.

Thus, Maduro has indicated that, based on a survey of more than ten million citizens through official institutions, 72 percent of Venezuelans would agree to reactivate the quarantine if necessary, points out the newspaper ‘Últimas Noticias’ .

To avoid having to apply these regulations, the president has invited the population to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. "Get the vaccine. If you haven’t had the vaccine, get it"he exclaimed.

In this sense, it has also encouraged the country’s parents to immunize their children from two years of age. "We have the best antivirals in the world and, therefore, now we will continue to flexibilize", has added.

Finally, Maduro has ensured that the educational system will continue to move forward in a face-to-face mode, as he considers that "a country’s priority is education", as "the cultural and moral wealth, development and future depend on it".

The health authorities of Venezuela have registered an increase in positive cases of coronavirus in recent dates, although they have recognized that the omicron variant "it’s less lethal" and that "it is normal for cases to increase".

Venezuela has registered 570 new infections, raising the total number of infected to more than 447,000 positive cases. In addition, it registers more than 5,300 deaths after adding 28 deaths in the last official balance.
