Machado homers, Soto homers, Padres win

Machado decide con jonrón, Soto da vuelacercas, Padres ganan

Manny Machado hit a game-clinching three-run homer and Juan Soto hit his first homer for the San Diego Padres, who rallied from a failed save by Josh Hader to beat the San Francisco Giants 7-4 on Tuesday.

Machado rounded out the night in spectacular fashion with his homer off Tyler Rogers (2-4), a half-inning after Hader gave up three runs to tie the Giants even.

The Padres began their winning streak when Jurickson Profar had a one-out single off Rogers and Soto advanced on catcher’s interference. Then Machado hit his 20th home run to left field and was greeted by a huge celebration at the plate.

The victory went to Tim Hill (3-0), who struck out Joc Pederson after succeeding Hader on the mound.

The Padres, whose offense had made a dismal impression in two straight shutouts, snapped a five-game losing streak. They were 1-5 since acquiring Soto and Josh Bell and hadn’t scored since the fourth inning Saturday at Dodger Stadium.

For the Giants, the Venezuelan Thairo Estrada 4-2; Wilmer Flores 1-1 with a run scored. The Mexican Luis González 3-0.

For the Padres, Dominican Juan Soto 3-2 with 3 runs scored and an RBI.
