Machado gives two hits, one key, Padres beat Alcántara

Manny Machado had another key hit for the Padres and Yu Darvish pitched seven solid innings as San Diego outscored the weakened Miami Marlins 3-2 on Friday night.

Machado reached base three times and had two hits, including an RBI single, as the Padres won for the fourth time in five games. Instead, the Marlins suffered their sixth consecutive stumble.

The Dominican gave the Padres a 3-0 lead with his single with two outs in the fifth. That run proved key after Darvish gave up a monumental two-run homer to Jesus Aguilar to wide left field in the sixth inning.

It was Aguilar’s third homer of the season.

Machado lined out to left field with two runners on board to end the seventh inning. Thus, the difference of a race was maintained on the board.

Darvish (3-1) gave up five hits in his longest outing of the year. He prescribed three strikeouts and didn’t walk.

The 35-year-old Japanese right-hander has pitched at least six innings in five of his six starts.

The defeat was for the Dominican Sandy Alcántara (2-2)

For the Marlins, the Venezuelans Aguilar 4-1 with a run scored and two RBIs, Avisaíl García 4-1, Miguel Rojas 3-0. The Dominican Jesús Sánchez 4-1.

For the Padres, the Dominican Machado 3-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
