Luis Severino will not be with the DR in the World Baseball Classic

The right pitcher Luis Severino, of the New York Yankees, will not participate with the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic next March.

The information was confirmed to the Listin by the president of the Dominican Baseball Federation, Juan Núñez.

Severino has dealt with injury problems in recent years in the Major Leagues, which have limited his playing time to just 19 starts and 102 innings in 2022; to 6 entries in 2021; not to participate in 2020 and to only have 12 episodes in 2019.

the dominican team debuts next March 11 against Venezuela in the V edition of the World Baseball Classic. Severino was one of the team’s main options to open games and was included in the preliminary roster of 50 players.
