Lillard y Portland acuerdan extensión por 122 millones de dólares y dos campañas

Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to a two-year, $122 million contract extension, keeping the Olympic gold medalist with the team through the 2026-27 season, a person familiar with the deal said Friday. .

Lillard will earn about $59 million in 2025-26 and about $63 million the following year, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Friday because the extension has not been announced.

He will earn about $137 million over the next three seasons, before the extension takes effect.

A six-time All-Star, Lillard has spent all 10 seasons in Portland. He was limited to 29 games last season because of an abdominal injury that required surgery, and he told ESPN in a television interview Friday that the time he’s had off, while frustrating, should help him in the long run.

“My body is stronger than it was before in certain areas,” Lillard said while watching NBA Summer League games in Las Vegas.

Lillard, who turns 32 on July 15, added that the mental rest was very helpful, in addition to the physical rest.

He has averaged 24.6 points in his career and was selected as a member of the top 75 players as part of the 75th anniversary celebration last season.
