Leaders of seven wealthy nations in Hiroshima

The G-7 summit was held on Friday in Hiroshima, Japan. The three-day conference will continue till Sunday. The top leaders of the world’s seven richest countries meet annually in this meeting. Japan is the host of this conference. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida welcomed the alliance leaders. News – BBC and Japan Times

At the conference, US President Joe Biden and other leaders will try to form a united front against Russia and China. The G-7 member countries are – United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.

The Ukraine issue is at the top of the agenda in the wake of the US sanctions against Russia. According to media reports, Ukrainian President Zelensky may address the conference via video conference.

Meanwhile, there is tension with China. In this situation, the alliance leaders are emphasizing on ensuring a ‘free’ Indo-Pacific region.

Besides, climate change, food security, health and nuclear disarmament issues are also discussed in the conference.

The Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s family lives in Hiroshima. He hopes that Japan’s commitment to world peace will be revealed through this conference. The realization of the concept of a world without nuclear weapons will be accelerated. Preparations are made to build a pillar of peace in the city of nuclear ruins.

Japan took over the presidency of the G-7 alliance from Germany this year. Although not a member of the alliance, the European Union attends the conference as a representative of its member states. Representatives of Australia, Brazil, South Korea and India have also been invited to the conference.
