La Liga Power Struggle: Barça on Brink of Cup Catastrophe

Teams Scramble for the Final Spots in the Endesa League

As the Endesa League approaches its final phase, there is still much to be decided. This weekend’s games will be crucial in determining the last few spots available for the Copa del Rey. Valencia, Unicaja, Real Madrid, Tenerife, Joventut, and Gran Canaria have already secured their places, but Manresa, Barça, and Zaragoza are still fighting for the remaining two spots.

The Last Two Vacant Places: A Three-Way Battle

Manresa has a slight edge over the other two teams, holding a 9-7 record and a +56 average. If they win their match against Joventut today, they will seal their qualification. Additionally, even if they lose, they can still qualify if Barça and/or Zaragoza also lose, or if neither team surpasses them in points difference.

Barça and Zaragoza, both with 8-8 records, are also in the running. Barça needs to win its match and for either Manresa or Zaragoza to lose and not surpass them in points difference. Zaragoza, on the other hand, must win its match and for both Manresa and Barça to lose, without either of them surpassing them in points difference.

Joventut and Gran Canaria Eye Top Four Spots

Joventut, currently in fifth place with an 11-5 record, still has a chance to move up the rankings. If they win their match against Manresa today and Tenerife loses, they will enter the top four. They can also move up if they win by at least two points more than Tenerife and Gran Canaria does not win while overcoming the 25-point difference in average.

Gran Canaria, with a 10-6 record, faces a tougher road to a top-four spot. They need to win their match against Hiopos Lleida this Sunday, have Tenerife and Joventut lose, and overcome the basket-average for both teams.
