The U18 AAA Peterborough Petes are hunting for a national championship. The 2026 TELUS Cup is officially underway at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Canada’s premier Under-18 Men’s Club Championship runs through April 26.
Six elite regional champions are battling in a grueling round-robin format. The Petes face a massive challenge against the top-ranked defending champion Regina Pat Canadians. They will also clash with the Okanagan Rockets, Levis Chevaliers, Halifax Mac’s, and Waterloo Wolves. The host team takes the ice for their preliminary matches each night at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
Only the top four teams advance to the semifinals on Saturday, April 25. The bronze and gold medal games are set for Sunday afternoon. The competition across regional sports brackets has been intense all season.
This tournament is a major historical milestone for the franchise. The Peterborough Minor Petes are making their first-ever appearance in the TELUS Cup. Local officials expect a massive boost to the region. Mayor Jeff Leal called this the community’s most significant hosting moment since the legendary Memorial Cup in 1996. The event is projected to bring over $1 million into the local economy.
