Kuwait: The brutal murder of a woman, dozens of Filipino women return home

Kuwait City: 114 Filipino domestic workers have returned to their homeland in just four days after the gruesome murder of a domestic worker in Kuwait last month.

According to details, 35-year-old domestic worker Jollibi Ranara was burnt by a 17-year-old Kuwaiti boy after allegedly committing adultery. The domestic worker had spoken to her family earlier last month and told them that she was afraid of her employer’s son.

Jolebi Ranara suddenly disappeared just a day later and was found dead on the side of a road in the desert, with a fractured skull and burned after being brutally murdered.

media According to the report Last week, the Philippine government said it would review incidents of rape and abuse of Filipino workers in the Gulf country and take measures to prevent the practice.

Al-Arabiya.com reports that the Ministry of Migrant Labor in the Philippines has blacklisted recruitment offices for Kuwait and has barred it from sending more Filipino workers to work in Kuwait.

It should be noted that Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior immediately started an investigation after finding the dead woman’s body and resolved the matter within 24 hours.

A Kuwaiti teenager is being prepared to go on trial for murdering the maid after raping her.

Ranara’s death is the latest tragedy to befall a woman activist from the Philippines and a heartbreaking event for the Filipino immigrant community.

About 268,000 Filipinos currently work in Kuwait. Among them are many domestic workers. More than 400 Filipinos have sought refuge in an emergency center in the Gulf state in recent weeks.
