Konami Seeks Revival of Silent Hill and Metal Gear with Kojima Productions Collaboration
In a move aimed at reclaiming its former glory, Konami is reviving two of its iconic gaming sagas, Silent Hill and Metal Gear. The Japanese company is seeking to reestablish its relevance in the gaming industry by developing remakes of its classic titles. Specifically, Metal Gear Solid 3: Delta Snake Eater, a remake of the third edition of the Metal Gear series, is underway.
The Creation of Kojima Productions and Death Stranding
After parting ways with Konami in 2015, creator Hideo Kojima established his own studio, Kojima Productions. The studio went on to develop Death Stranding, which received widespread critical acclaim. In contrast, Konami has struggled to regain its footing since the departure of Kojima, experiencing declining numbers and a significant decline in its once-iconic franchises.
Konami’s Wish for Hideo Kojima’s Involvement
As Konami works on the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Delta Snake Eater, the company’s wishes are clear: to collaborate with Kojima and the original development team. Producer Noriaki Okamura has expressed his desire to work with Kojima, stating, "It would be a dream to work with Kojima and the franchise’s original development staff again." While Konami’s wishes are explicit, it remains uncertain whether Kojima Productions will be open to collaborating with Konami. Only time will tell if this unlikely partnership comes to fruition.
