He has been declared completely fit by the medical team to enter the field. After the Indian starter got fit, BCCI immediately decided to make some changes to the squad. Now, KL Rahul will captain the Indian team in the three-match ODI series that will take place on the Zimbabwe tour. Earlier, when announcing the squad for the Zimbabwe tour, the coaches had appointed Shikhar Dhawan as team captain.

Now veteran starter Dhawan has become Rahul’s backup in the upcoming ODI series. Revealing this, the BCCI said in their statement: “The BCCI medical team examined Rahul and found that he is fully fit to play in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. The All India Senior Selection Committee appointed him captain of the team and Shikhar Dhawan was his substitute.

Following IPL 2022, Rahul was named captain of the five-match T20 series against South Africa in June. Just one day before the start of the series, he suffered a groin injury and Rishabh Pant had to be named captain in his place. KL Rahul went to Germany for treatment of his injury, so he had to stay out of the England tour. Although after this he was given a place in the team for the West Indies tour, but before taking the Windies’ ship, he got infected with the corona virus. He was given a place in the team for the Asian Cup, since then the BCCI medical team was constantly monitoring his physical condition. The good news is that he regained his fitness for the Tour of Zimbabwe before the high-profile tournament.
