Kenneth Kim, a pharmacist based in the US state of Pennsylvania, has always wanted to do something with crypto with which he can make the world just a little bit more beautiful.

For this reason, in 2019 he started a wonderful initiative called Crypto for the Homeless (CFTHL) with which he has already been able to help more than 5,000 homeless people with food through cryptocurrencies.

How did this initiative come to life?

Kim got the idea when he walked his daily route to school as a pharmacy student at Temple University in Philadelphia between 2018 and 2021. During this walk he walked past several homeless people and saw how they lived.

This was also around the time the movie Blade Runner 2049 hit theaters. This film showed a dystopian future where the gap between the rich and the poor was very large. In the film, the homeless were not begging for money but for digital credits.

“I think the film is trying to convey that we are so far in the future that even the homeless have completely adopted this new way of using currency,” Kim said in a statement. interview with Cointelegraph

How are cryptocurrencies used for this?

So Kim came up with the idea of using crypto to help the less fortunate through this scene. In the end he also came up with the idea to collect money in this way to arrange food for the homeless.

This initiative enabled Kim to deliver his first meal to the homeless person from Philadelphia on April 28, 2019. In the meantime, the organization can blow out its third candle and has already been able to help thousands of homeless people from all over the world through crypto donations.
