Kapler, gets a contract extension until 2024

Kapler, obtiene una extensión de contrato hasta 2024

Giants manager Gabe Kapler has been rewarded with a new contract after a record season during which San Francisco won 107 games, the best franchise, and the NL West.

The extension announced Friday runs through the 2024 season. Kapler, 46, just completed his second season as a manager.

San Francisco outscored the rival Dodgers on the final day of the regular season by one game before Los Angeles, which had won all eight previous divisional titles, eliminated the Giants in a thrilling five-game National League Division Series.

"Gabe has done an extraordinary job in his role as field manager for the past two seasons, he is a key contributor to our front office, and the Giants organization prides itself on his active commitment to the community.", president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi said in a statement. “Coming out of a season in which your work and leadership were critical to our success, it was a high priority for us to provide a level of stability and certainty to our continued partnership. We are delighted with today’s announcement ".

Kapler replaced Bruce Bochy when Bochy retired after the 2019 campaign and immediately began to do things his own way, bringing in a great coaching staff to support him. San Francisco was 29-31 during the 2020 season shortened by the coronavirus.

Then the Giants surprised everyone this season by going 107-55 and winning the club’s premier division crown since 2012 in a year when the Dodgers and San Diego Padres were big favorites.

"I am honored to work for the San Francisco Giants and am grateful for the opportunity to continue to build on the work of the past two years."Kapler said."There is nowhere I’d rather be, and I’m excited to continue preparing with the entire organization.".
