Producer Kamal Haasan has provided a significant update on the upcoming film ‘Thalaivar 173’. The project, which stars South superstar Rajinikanth, recently underwent a directorial change.
Director Sundar C had previously announced his decision to step down from the film. He cited “unavoidable circumstances” as the reason for his withdrawal.
Haasan confirmed that the film featuring Rajinikanth remains active. He emphasized his role as a producer committed to satisfying his lead actor.
“We will keep hearing scripts until it satisfies him,” Haasan stated. He added, “We are searching for another story on which we can work together as actors.”

‘Thalaivar 173’ is being produced under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International. The film is set to feature both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in acting roles.
The project is currently slated for a theatrical release in 2027. It is expected to debut around the Pongal festival.
