“Juve, be careful with Cristiano: he wants his 20 million”

Another is added to Juventus’ huge list of problems: Cristiano. The “secret paper” on the cut in his salary is one of the most important elements in the hands of the Turin Prosecutor’s Office, according to which the club bianconero would have promised to return 19.9 million euros gross regardless of his tenure at the club. An important number, which according to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’, the Portuguese wants to recover as soon as possible. One of his lawyers, on November 4, asked the prosecutors for the investigation documents in which there are details about the cuts in salaries in 2020 and 2021.

Both Cristiano and his lawyers will be able to read all the intercepted conversations of the Bianconeri directors, especially those in which they speak of the already famous “secret letter”. The Juventus players, in 2020 and 2021, in the face of the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, accepted a one-month cut in their salary, deferring three more to the following balance sheets (a situation that, according to the Prosecutor’s Office and the Consob, had to be clarified in the balance sheets). In 2021, only 17 Bianconeri accepted the deal, including Paulo Dybala, who allowed himself to be convinced to “have better opportunities” in a renewal that, in the end, never came. Juve promised to return those salaries with three private letters, deposited in the office of the lawyer Federico Restano (and not in the headquarters of Serie A and FIGC). In the first, the club promised to deposit “no later than July 31, 2021 the agreement for a complementary bonus”, in the second the details of the bonus, and in the third, the commitment to pay it also in case of sale, as an “exit incentive”.

This last case is that of Cristiano, who at the end of the summer of 2021 went to Manchester United and, from then on, would have had to receive the months of salary deferred in the previous two years. Then, 19.9 million gross would be missing that the striker has not yet received and his lawyers are working to recover them. In them, as La Gazzetta stressed, there is also some inconsistency. CEO Maurizio Arrivabene, for example, told prosecutors that, in his opinion, “there is nothing pending with Ronaldo.” The most probable thing is that exmadridista will not agree.
