The municipality of Juan López will become this Saturday the capital of Olympic sports when it receives this Saturday an extensive program of activities to celebrate “Olympic Day”.
It will be the first time that the activity is taken to a Municipal District to celebrate different events that commemorate the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Juan López belongs to the municipality of Moca, Espaillat province.
The program includes a tree-planting day on Avenida Principal Juan López, an exhibition of plastic arts at the Los Robles sports complex, talks given by the Commission for the Environment, Women and Sports, and the Olympic Academy.
It is also planned to do a cycling circuit, a massive walk and recognition of various prominent sports and cultural personalities in the area.
The event is organized by the Dominican Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports, in coordination with the mayor’s office of the municipality of Juan López, the Los Robles Sports Complex, the collaboration of The Foundation with El Pueblo.com and other entities.

The program of activities for Olympic Day this Saturday will begin at 11:00 in the morning, with a day of reforestation of different species on the main avenue of Juan López, beginning in the vicinity of the Mocana Association up to the Nuevo Renacer school.
At 11:30 in the morning, the opening of a Plastic Arts exhibition is scheduled, by children and adolescents from the Los Robles painting school.
Next, talks will be carried out by the Environmental Commission of the COD with a theme that will be developed by Felicita Heredia; another talk entitled “Ethics and Olympic Values in Sport, by engineer Pedro Julio Quezada, director of that entity and a third talk will be given by Dulce María Piña, director of the Women and Sports commission of the COD.
For 3:00 in the afternoon, a cycling circuit is scheduled to be held to then give way to the Olympic Walk that will leave from the main avenue to the Los Robles sports complex in this community of Juan López.
The program provides for awards to various distinguished personalities in the area.
