Jovenel Moise’s son asks the UN for help in investigation of his father’s murder

The son of the late former president of Haiti Jovenel Moise, Joverlein Moise, reported that he requested help from the United Nations (UN), and the international community, to continue the investigation of the murder of his father.

Joverlein assured through a series of messages published on his social media accounts, that he sent documents describing the facts about the assassination, as well as the independence of the judges and attorneys empowered in the case.

“We have sent the chronology of the events to the UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers. We hope that the United Nations, as well as several state institutions in other countries, will commit to contribute to the investigation, ”he wrote on Twitter.

Jovenel Moise was assassinated on July 7 by armed men who carried out an assault on his residence at dawn, in the Pelerin neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. The death was announced by the then acting Prime Minister, Claude Joseph.

"This very morning, at one o’clock in the morning, July 7, a group of unidentified people, who spoke in Spanish and English, assassinated the President of the Republic. The president has died from his injuries", said.

In the assault, the former first lady, Martine Moise, was also shot by a bullet, who survived the attack, receiving timely medical attention at a local medical center and later in Florida, United States.

That same day, the Haitian ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Smith Agustín, reported that the children of Jovenel and Martine were under protection in a safe place, although he did not reveal more information about the case.
