Johan Rojas recibe permiso para jugar con el Licey

Johan Rojas, the fifth best prospect in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, has received permission to see action with the Tigres del Licey in the Don Tomás Troncoso Cuesta fall-winter baseball tournament.

The integration of the fast runner is one more example of the work carried out by the Operations Department of the blue team in the incessant search to place the strongest possible team on the field. He is scheduled to join practices this Wednesday in Santiago.

Rojas, a native of San Francisco de Macorís, comes from exhausting 500 at-bats in 130 games in the Class A Advanced (Jersey Shore) and Double A (Reading) categories of the Phillies, among which he compiled 122 hits, including 20 doubles, 7 triples and 7 home runs.

The 6-1, 165-pound, 22-year-old added 82 runs scored, 38 RBIs and a whopping 62 stolen bases on 67 attempts. Most recently with the Surprise team in the Arizona Fall League he hit .310 with 10 runs scored, 4 doubles, a triple, seven RBIs and was 13-for-13 in stolen bases in 12 games.

Rojas was the second round pick for the Tigres del Licey in the 2021 Dominican League Baseball Rookie Draft.
