The San Franciscans 49ers beat the Miami Dolphins 33-17, but they lost for the remainder of the 2022 season of the nfl to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo because he suffered a fractured left foot.
“(garoppolo) He will be out, he needs surgery, he broke some things lying around”, declared head coach Kyle Shanahan in the post-game conference. The QB completed two of the four throws he attempted for 56 yards.
Garoppolo was sacked by Jerome Baker and Jaelan Phillips on third down and six to go at the Miami 19-yard line in the first quarter. The quarterback left Levi’s Stadium and rookie Brock Purdy replaced him.
Prior to injury, multiple reports of nfl network pointed out that the Niners were interested in re-signing Garoppolo for the upcoming season.
San Francisco has limited options for the rest of the season at quarterback. In addition to Purdy, the 49ers have Jacob Eason on the practice squad.

The Eastern Illinois graduate was in a rhythm after taking over the offense with Trey Lance’s injury. Garoppolo had 2,437 yards with 16 touchdown passes and one interception after completing 207 of the 308 passes he attempted in the 11 games he played.
