Jean Montero: We are not giving up and we are in the Basketball World Cup

Jean Montero, the sensation of Dominican basketball, was happy and satisfied with the work done by the national team, which allowed them to qualify for the Basketball World Cup.

The Dominican team defeated its equal from Argentina 79-75, in a decisive and historic clash for the Dominicans, who cut a streak of 41 years in a row for the South Americans by going to the Basketball World Cup.

“The mentality of us entering the last quarter was different, we understood that we were not going to tie the game in a single possession, we had to continue working possession by possession and that’s what we did, we fought,” said Montero after analyzing the game together coach Néstor Ché García.

He said that the Dominican team has something good and that is that it does not give up so easily. “We competed until the end and we understand that the last 3 minutes, the coach had been telling us before, yesterday he said that, the last 3 minutes are going to be very key to the game and that’s how it was,” he said.

He said that going behind by four points with 3 minutes remaining and getting the victory was only possible because they never gave up and kept in the game possession by possession and second by second.
