Jean Marie Le Pen Tomb Vandalized in Trinite Sur Mer Cemetery France

Vandalized the tomb of Jean Marie Le Pen

A cemetery in Trinité-Sur-Mer, Morbihan, France, has been the site of vandalism, with the tomb of Jean-Marie Le Pen being damaged. The police have started an investigation into this matter. A person who lives nearby reported that the grave was damaged severely, with another local resident stating that nearly everything at the site was broken, including a Celtic cross and the grave itself.

Jean-Marie Le Pen, the founder of the National Front, was laid to rest in this cemetery just three weeks ago, on January 10, 2025, after passing away at the age of 96. As per his wishes, his grave was marked with a simple gray marble plate that only had his name and the dates of his birth and death on it.

The Lorient Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation, with the Gendarmerie of Trinité-Sur-Mer leading the inquiries. As a result of the incident, the cemetery has been temporarily closed to the public.

Reaction to the Incident

Interior Minister Bruno Retilleau expressed his thoughts on the matter, saying “The degradation of the tomb of the Le Pen family in the Trinité is an absolute abject. Respect for the dead is what distinguishes the civilization of barbarism.”
